SAT READING
Today we are gonna discuss the Reading
Section of SAT. This is the first section of SAT it comprises 52 of questions which are to be done in 65 min. It has no negative marking but the time limit is enough to scare you.
So there are 5 unseen passages each containing 10 or 11 questions and should be solved within 13 minutes. There are 3 popular ways to solve these unseen passages so let's discuss them.
1) Read the passage and then solve the questions.
2) Read the questions followed by the passage and then mark the answers when you find them in passage.
3) Skim the passage, then read the questions and then solve them.
You are free to use any of them but I would recommend you the third one. But do remember skimming shouldn't take more than 2 mins.
When you will be solving the reading passages you will notice that there are some questions which come frequently thus preparing them is essential.
1) You have to find it while you are skimming the passage. If by any chance you couldn't find the answer then skip it for last as you will figure it out after solving all the questions.
2) Over course of passage the main course shifts from ......... to ........
2) To be found while skimming, if you are not able to answer it then read the bottom questions to get some clue.
3) Word meaning
3) I chose not to attach the PDF of word meaning important for SAT as i want you to do a task i.e. pickup a blank sheet and write 1 to 50 and then start reading any book or magazine for every word that you don't know guess it's meaning if you succeed then tick it otherwise cross it. This exercise will help you a lot.
4) Graph questions
4) Graphs are discussed
in math section so check
it over there.
5) A question asking evidence of previous question.
5) You can answer it easily if you answered the previous question but if you didn't then, use it to find the answer of the previous question.
6) Summary of any specific passage
6) Skim the passage and answer it.
7) Tone established by certain words
7) To be answered by common sense, sorry can't help in this one.
8) With which of these the narrator would be most likely to agree
